The Importance of a Physical Exam
All schools in Iowa require a Pre-Participation Physical Exam, widely known as a “sports physical,” prior to your child’s first practice of the season, to ensure that they are healthy and able to compete in sports. Each sports physical exam on the schools record is good for one calendar year, with a grace period not to exceed (30) days. This means your child will need a sports physical exam each year they compete in an extracurricular activity requiring a sports physical exam. This physical can be complete at their annual wellness exam throughout the year. Many childcare centers also require annual physicals prior to your child’s first day.
