Ambulatory Care in Dubuque, IA
Ambulatory Care is a medical activity that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases with a recent onset but not likely to lead to serious consequences. Medical emergencies are best managed in an emergency department of your nearest hospital. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911 and get help as soon as possible. However, for less serious medical problems, we have two providers available in our office each day to see you for these types of medical problems. Normally, we will try to have you see your primary care physician if at all possible. However, for a number of reasons, your usual primary care doctor may not be available so we have two other health care providers (a physician and a physician assistant) to see you in the office and save you a trip to the emergency room. If you are uncertain about whether or not your problem should be evaluated in the office or in an emergency room, please call our office and we will have a nurse review your situation and provide advice. The nurse will consult with one of our physicians as needed. The ambulatory care service is available by appointment only and generally sees patients between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
